Settlement on Old Mission Peninsula was created in 2015 by Kennard Weaver to present an oral and visual history of human settlement on Old Mission Peninsula, by relating family histories and observations by historians on developments as the population grew and changed over the centuries. The Anishnaebek native Americans were here first, and then Europeans came and settled in as the Odawa and Chippewa moved over to the Leelanau Peninsula. The Dougherty Mission helped the native Americans to assimilate and live with the new culture.
